A 19th-century building in the heart of downtown Dubuque, right by the Farmers Market, is being brought back to life as thirteen one-of-a-kind loft residences, with two ground-floor storefronts alongside. Original limestone, brick, and timber stay. Everything else is new.
The datestone above the front cornice still reads 1885 — this building has anchored this block of downtown Dubuque for well over a century. The renovation is built around keeping that history visible, not covering it up.
The original limestone foundation and brick masonry are being cleaned with the gentlest methods possible rather than replaced. Historic storefront columns, stone window headers and sills, and the building's original bay rhythm are being preserved and repaired throughout. Where new systems are required — wiring, plumbing, fire separation between floors, replacement windows set into the original openings — they're built to today's code without erasing what came before.
Three connected buildings, one shared history and future, thirteen residences that are each a little different from the next. IOWA STREET LOFTS · DOWNTOWN DUBUQUE

Loft living means efficient layouts — so the building includes amenities most historic buildings in the district don't: climate-controlled storage and dedicated parking, available separately from a residence lease.
Individually sized, climate-controlled storage units in the basement levels of both buildings, available to residents and the public.
A limited number of off-street spaces available at $95/month, first come, first served.
Iowa Street sits right in the heart of downtown Dubuque, steps from where the Dubuque Farmers' Market sets up every week, surrounded by restaurants, shops, and the city's historic core.
Highway 20, 61, and 151 access, public transit, and downtown's year-round events calendar keep the neighborhood connected to the rest of the Tri-State area.
